DIT

The DIT handles all the duties of a Data Wrangler, plus additional responsibilities such as working closely with the Director of Photography to ensure visual quality, generating LUTs and CDLs, performing live grading and real-time QC, exposure checks, and camera setups.

The DIT also performs a more thorough QC after offloading the footage, like reviewing metadata, checking time code, addressing any sync issues, and ensuring that the material is complete and aligns with the creative vision of the project. Depending on the project's requirements, the DIT may also generate dailies on set and upload them to a cloud platform, although this practice has its own considerations and limitations, which will be enumerated later.

The DIT role is crucial for maintaining the consistency and quality of the visual output, making real-time adjustments to color and exposure, and providing immediate feedback to the DP and production team.
